Location: Basingstoke/Bristol
Description
Experienced systems safety engineer/consultant with a sound working knowledge of defence and industry safety processes and standards, who is able to undertake a wide range of analyses and assessments in a project or programme environment
Have a good working knowledge and experience of the safety process lifecycle from the preparation of Safety Management Plans and Safety Management Systems, through Preliminary Hazard Analyses, and System Hazard Analyses and the analyses involved, to delivering completed Safety Cases
Responsibilities Shall Include:
- Undertaking Safety management activities and assessments
- Reporting progress to line manager and the Quintec Safety Capability Manager
Essential Skills Required:
- Good electronic/electrical engineering degree
- Chartered Engineer i.e. a corporate member of IEE, etc., but the equivalent in actual experience would also be considered
- Experience of preparing Safety Management Systems and Safety Management Plans
- Safety assessments throughout the project life cycle
- Preparation and construction of Safety Cases including the key safety arguments
- Experience of preparing Safety Case Reports
- Good knowledge of Def Stan 00-56 Issue 3, JSP 430, JSP 454, JSP 553, JSP 520, and Mil Std 882C/D would be expected
- Experience of Safety work on Defence projects in a variety of roles
- Ability to write clear, coherent and logical reports in good English is also essential
- Liaison and ability to communicate effectively at meetings with customers
- Five years working experience in the Safety discipline. Would be prepared to considered less experience but it is unlikely less than three years working experience would be accepted
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of interfacing with other disciplines and other parts of the project organisation
- Experience of working on MoD programmes directly with MoD procurement as well as with MoD suppliers would be a real advantage

- Able to work as part of a team or on his/her own
- Self motivated individual able to work alone or as part of team
- PC literate: As a minimum Microsoft packages
