Description

The successful candidate will be expected to be able to assess the Engineering needs of a project, develop the Systems Engineering approach and work with the project manager and product engineers to deliver the solution. They will be expected to provide technical leadership and when required to, lead by example.

Candidates can expect to work on major Information System or complex (software intensive) bids and projects. They will need excellent technical leadership, judgement, organisational and interpersonal skills. The ability to learn quickly, command respect, work under pressure and clear and concise report writing is essential.

The role will require working at client sites across the UK.

Responsibilities Shall Include:

Shall Include one or more of:

  • Assessing the Systems Engineering needs of a project and making recommendations for the way forward
  • Leading of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers
  • Acting as the point of contact for stakeholders and/or suppliers
  • Providing advice or guidance on the implementation of Systems Engineering methods and tools

Essential Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of various Systems Engineering Lifecycle models and standards
  • Ability to develop bid, system or product solution strategy
  • Coordination of a multi-disciplinary team during bid, development and/or test phases of a project.
  • Ability to write Systems Engineering Management Plans
  • Experience of leading customer requirement, supplier design or interface analysis workshops
  • Experience of leading Systems Engineering reviews (e.g. SRR,SDR, PDR,CDR,TRRS)
  • Experience of participating in Change Control Boards (CCBs)

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience on one or more major Information Systems or complex (software intensive) project
  • Experience of setting up Systems Engineering teams, especially during bids
  • Understanding of risk management, information management and configuration management
  • Functional management, staff appraisal, objective setting or resource management
