Description

The Human Factors group offers a dynamic fast changing environment working on various military programmes such as large naval platforms, armoured vehicles and aircraft, with expansion into commercial work such as the rail industry.

A Senior or Principal Human Factors Consultant is required to support the Human Factors Group in a number of programmes. Work will involve practical application of human factors theory, analysis, and design techniques to system development projects and Human Factors studies.

We are especially looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate a track record of work in areas outside our current portfolio, with the drive to help us develop our business in these areas.

Responsibilities Shall Include:

  • Providing innovative solutions to the varied needs of our customers
  • Production of technical reports, presentations and bids
  • Effective promotion of HF capabilities to customers through face-to-face liaison and presentations
  • Sharing knowledge with colleagues through regular contact and at public forums

Essential Skills Required:

  • Able to rapidly progress up the learning curve on new projects
  • Technically proficient with practical application of several of the following techniques: HCI design, control room design, task analysis, workload analysis, human reliability analysis, training needs analysis, HFI in projects.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of appropriate HF standards.
  • Appropriate HCI, Ergonomics or Occupational Psychology qualifications, preferably to post-graduate level
  • Ability to write clear, coherent and logical reports in good English is also essential
  • Able to radiply fit into and work in teams and form lasting relationships with clients through effective communication and commitment to excellence
  • Five years working experience in the Human Factors discipline although we would be prepared to consider less experience for exceptional candidates

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of Project Management / Bid Management
  • Experience of writing Proposals
  • Experience in defence projects
  • M Erg S, or able to achieve such (or higher) within a year
  • MS Office Skills
  • Visual Basic programming and development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentational skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Self motivated individual able to work alone or as part of team
  • The ability to manage own time and budget
  • PC literate: As a minimum Microsoft packages
  • Full mobility essential
