Capability Optimisation is a systematic approach that enables an organisation to become more effective and efficient whilst preserving its core principles and values.

Capability Optimisation seeks to optimise an organisation, project or programme through a combination of more efficient operations, reduced cost, increased capacity or by improving customer service. This may be achieved by making better use of existing resources – in effect doing more with less, or through the use of innovative technical solutions.

Our process

All organisations are different. It follows that they face their own challenges. The process we employ within Capability Optimisation recognises the unique needs of an organisation by creating a bespoke optimisation plan using proven tools and techniques. Our simple six-step process:

  • Capture core business objectives and values
  • Identify key business challenges
  • Draw out root causes of the challenges through a value based approach
  • Develop alternative value based propositions through new business processes and innovative technology, balanced between human centric design and technology
  • Evaluate the options
  • Develop an implementation plan for preferred options

At each step Quintec has a range of tools and techniques to suit the level of complexity, the nature of the challenge, the customer’s change agenda and budget. We have already employed this process in the airports and ISTAR domains.

Integrated approach

We employ an integrated approach that spans the enterprise and covers all DLODs. However, it is adaptable to allow specific organisational challenges to be addressed. After undertaking the capability awareness elements of our process we exploit the people, process and technology expertise present in Quintec, Thales and other partner organisations to identify a broad range of alternative value based propositions.

Value Chain Optimisation

Using proven methodologies and toolsets, Quintec works with a range of clients to drive performance improvement across the complete value chain. This includes addressing new market opportunities and rapid cost reduction through to optimisation of the supply chain and technology innovation. Working with clients from industry and government, we employ structured ‘right to left’ thinking to effectively identify and optimise business benefit across programmes, products and services. We are able to draw on domain experts and unique specialist capabilities to develop sound business cases for investment that are aligned to a renewed strategic vision and business objectives which strengthen competitive positioning within a challenging and complex market place.

The Capability Optimisation practice recognises that an investment is only successful if the intended benefits are realised. Business challenges are complicated, at worst, they are complex. Quintec uses the Realisor tool to enable people and teams to understand the true cost of ownership and the benefits of change, prioritising the low cost initiatives with the highest rates of return. Realisor provides clarity, transparency and certainty to assure that your resources are prioritised and focussed on initiatives that drive business performance, leverage opportunities and mitigate the significant risks.

Providing evidence for operational change or specific technical solutions requires a thorough understanding of complex operational problems and a detailed analysis of operational cost-effectiveness.

By modelling the complex interactions between operational variables we can run cost-effective simulations to demonstrate the relative merits of a number of solution options.
